New in the Team: Nick Schenker, Software Engineer

How was your start with us?

It was not an ordinary start, as I still had school in the morning. But I was warmly welcomed and was able to familiarize myself with the systems and processes right away. I especially appreciated that everything was perfectly prepared, whether it was the PC or tools. Our building, with its bright rooms and calm atmosphere, also contributes to a pleasant working environment.

What did you do before?

I worked for six years as an automation technician and industrial electrician at Migros Industry. In one of their plants, I ensured electrical maintenance, including revisions and upgrades of production. This already gave me valuable insights into automation. Originally, I trained as an automation technician EFZ, and I am currently studying part-time to become a system technician.

How did you come across Robotec Solutions?

I had long felt the desire to delve deeper into robotics, but found few suitable companies. Due to my further education, I was also interested in programming. I eventually came across the open position at Robotec Solutions through a job portal. I applied, and now I'm here. :-)

What are you particularly looking forward to?

Through my further education as a system technician, I learned a lot about the interconnections between systems: about robot controls as well as higher-level controls (PLC) and how the data flows between them work. Now I'm excited to apply what I've learned and see how a system is developed and built in practice.

Finally: What do you do in your free time?

Currently, I invest a lot of time in school. But in general, I look forward to doing more sports again soon: In winter, I enjoy snowboarding, in summer I play a lot of tennis and badminton. And I recently started mountain biking, including downhill.
