Initial Situation & Goals

Our long-standing customer is an established supplier in the Luxury goods and watch industry . Like many industrial companies working with small, loosely delivered parts, the company faced several challenges:

  • Unstructured component feeding
  • Variability of references
  • Frequent series changes
  • Limited space requirement
  • Striving for operator autonomy and ease of use

Conventional solutions are often not flexible enough and require complex settings or technical interventions with each product change. Additionally, the variety of workpiece types and their surface characteristics make recognition by industrial image processing particularly challenging.

The Solution

Robotec developed a compact, flexible palletizing cell that combines Vision technology , intelligent feeding, and high-speed robotics. The standardized Robot cell is modular and can therefore be easily scaled. It is suitable for applications with special trays, strips, or holders.

The bulk material is fed via the vibrating Asycube platform. The Cognex camera locates and orients the components so that the FANUC SCARA robot can grip the parts and precisely position them on the carrier.

The system automatically manages product parameters through pre-configured recipes. New references can be programmed by simply adjusting the parameters without requiring reprogramming.

Central control is provided by a FANUC R-30iB Plus controller, while the teach pendant features an integrated, easy-to-use HMI.
